The Eurodrone Network Architect leads the overall system network design for the Eurodrone programme, covering both the Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) and Ground Control Station (GCS). The role involves defining the network architecture and design rules, coordinating stakeholders across disciplines like Safety, Airworthiness and INFOSEC, and tracking implementation to resolve conflicts. The architect also presents technical topics to the customer during design reviews and manages ICD activities, ensuring baselines and adherence to ED-specific rules.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for leading the overall system network design, including Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) and Ground Control Station (GCS). This includes:
  • Definition of the overall network architecture and overall design rules to be applied by the system designers
  • Coordination and support of the different stakeholders involved in the process (System Designers, transversal disciplines like Safety, Airworthiness and INFOSEC)
  • Tracking of the implementation and resolution of potential conflicts that could arise during the process
  • Technical presentations to the customer in the different design reviews, support to customer discussions related to network architecture topics
  • Coordinate ICD activities (i.e., being aware of the status, issues, conflicts and reporting to OSD and CE Boards)
  • Resolve conflicts on ICD definition issues affecting the perimeters of multiple L1 System Architects
  • Ensure ICD baselines as needed, including initiation of ICDMS baselines
  • Monitor adherence of the ICD definition to the ED-specific ICD rules (IFMP) and trigger corrective actions

Requirements

  • Master Degree in Engineering (Aeronautical) or comparable
  • 5 - 10 years extensive Engineering experience
  • Very good knowledge of avionics and ground network architectures, including Ethernet and IP networks, OSI network model, protocol stacks, and switching, routing and firewall hardware
  • Good knowledge in Project / Programme Management
  • Open-mindedness and desire for a new professional challenge
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and team-player skills
  • Fluency in English (German, French, or Spanish is an advantage)
  • High willingness to travel frequently for business

Nice to have

  • Knowledge within other avionics buses like AFDX, 1553 or ARINC 429, INFOSEC principles and airworthiness certification is also desirable.
