We are seeking a Hardware Development Engineer I to join our Power Electronics team. In this role, you will be a contributor helping to solve difficult hardware engineering problems related to high-power electronics systems. You will design, develop, and validate power electronics boards from concept through production, working on high-voltage DC systems that push the boundaries of performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the Design, develop, and test multi-layer power electronics board for high-voltage DC systems, from initial concept through volume production release.
- Support schematics development, PCBA layout, prototyping, DFM, board bring-up testing, drawings, bill of materials, and supporting design documentation
- Support development of test plans that validate designs against DO-160 and DO-274 standards, ensuring electromagnetic compatibility, environmental resilience, and functional safety.
- Create and maintain high-quality design documentation including schematics, specifications, analysis reports, and test results.
- Conduct design reviews with teammates and cross-functional teams.
- Apply system-level thinking to understand how power electronics subsystems integrate with and influence the broader product architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with multi-layer power electronics PCB layout and design.
- 1+ years of experience working on high-voltage DC power systems
- Demonstrated experience developing power electronics boards from concept through production.
- Proficiency with power electronics design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, ECAD tools, MATLAB/Simulink for power system modeling). ### Preferred qualifications
Nice to have
- Master's degree or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience working on power systems hardware for aerospace programs (aircraft, drone, satellites, etc.)
- Experience leading vendor engagements and manufacturing partner discussions for power electronics assemblies.
- Working knowledge of DO-160 and DO-274 design and test standards and IP (Ingress Protection) rating requirements and design-for-environment principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to build mechanism that reduce routine work and bring processes to scale
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technical domains quickly and work independently on well-scoped tasks
