As a Liaison Engineer on the Prime Air Structures and Payload team, you will support manufacturing and assembly operations by reviewing and dispositioning non-conformances found during drone production. You will provide real-time engineering support on the production floor, develop repairs and rework procedures, and partner with Design Engineering to drive design updates that improve quality and reduce cost. You will also conduct root cause investigations, support Material Review Board activities, and track non-conformance trends to identify systemic issues.
Responsibilities
- Review and disposition non-conformance events related to drone hardware (including vehicle structure, payloads, and electromechanical assemblies) that may occur during procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and integration
- Serve as the first line of defense on the production floor, providing real-time engineering support to the Assembly and Test organization
- Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, and propose Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements that improve quality and reduce cost
- Partner with Design Engineering teams to translate production findings into actionable design updates
- Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Develop and maintain disposition templates and analysis methods to address common non-conformances efficiently
- Drive process updates and improvements to work instructions in collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality teams
- Track and report non-conformance trends to identify systemic issues and prioritize design improvements
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and maintain associated documentation
- Interact with internal customers, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Material Review Board (MRB) role supporting hardware production (aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, or similar)
- Experience developing engineering dispositions for non-conforming hardware ### Preferred qualifications
Nice to have
- Experience with CAD modelling software, such as Solidworks or MATLAB
- Experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions, or experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)
- Experience driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements that resulted in measurable quality or cost improvements
- Experience with formal root cause and corrective action investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and drawing interpretation (ASME Y14.5)
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
