This Principal TPM role at Amazon Prime Air oversees the integration of hardware and software development for drone delivery operations. The role involves driving cross-functional alignment, managing integrated schedules, and ensuring deliverables converge on time to support flight-test milestones. The TPM coordinates between engineering teams, manages risks, and communicates status to senior leadership, focusing on keeping all workstreams aligned toward program milestones.
Responsibilities
- Hardware & Software Coordination - Serve as the integration point between hardware engineering and software development teams, ensuring dependencies are identified, tracked, and resolved. Maintain a unified program schedule that reflects both HW and SW critical paths.
- Schedule & Critical-Path Management - Maintain the integrated master schedule, identify critical-path risks, and drive mitigation actions. Provide regular status to leadership with clear escalation of schedule threats.
- Cross-Functional Integration - Facilitate program-level mechanisms (status reviews, design reviews, TRBs) to maintain alignment across disciplines.
- Risk & Issue Management - Proactively surface risks, coordinate tiger-team responses, and track issues to closure. Ensure trade-off decisions are made with full visibility to cost, schedule, and technical impact.
- Stakeholder Communication - Deliver concise, decision-ready program updates to senior leadership. Represent the program in reviews and ensure commitments are clearly documented and tracked.
- As the Drone Program TPM, your day revolves around keeping hardware, software, and flight-test teams moving in sync. Mornings start with stand-ups and schedule checks, followed by coordination meetings with manufacturing, flight sciences, and safety stakeholders. Afternoons are spent in program reviews, resolving blockers, and updating leadership on schedule health and risks. You close the day by refreshing trackers and teeing up the next day's priorities. The role is less about building and more about driving clarity, unblocking teams, and ensuring every workstream converges on the next milestone.
