This role is for a System Safety Certification Specialist on the Amazon Prime Air team, focused on ensuring the safety and certification of drone delivery systems. The specialist will define safety assessment processes, derive design safety requirements from regulations, and integrate safety into system development across cross-functional teams. The position involves coordinating with regulatory bodies and technical standards organizations to shape the future of drone safety.

Responsibilities

  • - Help define the future of safety assessment processes and methodologies for drone aerial systems through coordination with regulatory bodies and technical standards organizations across the world
  • - Derive design safety requirements driven by regulatory requirements for Prime Air's ground based and aerial systems
  • - Partner with talented cross functional teams to integrate design safety directly into the system development process.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software and systems development experience
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership while working cross functionally across several teams
  • 3+ years of professional experience coordinating with regulatory bodies on complex technical topics
  • Experience in analysis and design of safety critical systems
  • Proficiency in technical writing, especially with respect to preparing certification plans and artifacts ### Preferred qualifications

Nice to have

  • 3+ years experience in system safety engineering in the aerospace, automotive, or robotics industries
  • Experience with ARP-4761/4754, ISO26262, MIL-STD-882B, or similar system safety processes.
  • Experience developing FHAs, Fault Trees, Reliability Predictions, FMEAs, SSAs, CCAs.
  • Experience performing safety analyses in one or more of the following: Image based perception systems, aerospace systems, vehicle management, flight controls, cloud-based software intensive systems, aircraft traffic management.
  • Experience working with requirements management and safety analysis tools (CAFTA, Medini, and similar)
  • Knowledgeable in systems engineering fundamentals, including system decomposition, requirements verification & validation, and ICD definition

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
