As a System Safety Engineer on the Amazon Prime Air team, you will own the completion of system safety analyses and derive design safety requirements for one or more Prime Air systems. You will help define the future of safety assessment processes and methodologies for drone aerial delivery systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to integrate design safety directly into the system development process. This role is part of an iterative, fast-paced environment focused on applying state-of-the-art technologies to solve next-generation delivery challenges.

Responsibilities

  • - Own the completion of system safety analyses and derive design safety requirements for one or more Prime Air systems
  • - Help define the future of safety assessment processes and methodologies for drone aerial delivery systems.
  • - Partner with talented cross functional teams to integrate design safety directly into the system development process.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software and systems development experience
  • 3+ years experience in system safety engineering in the aerospace, automotive, or robotics industries
  • Experience in analysis and design of safety critical systems
  • Experience working with requirements management and safety analysis tools (CAFTA, Medini, and similar)
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis and reliability engineering fundamentals
  • Proficient working with cross functional teams to drive analysis of complex systems
  • Knowledgeable in systems engineering fundamentals, including system decomposition, requirements verification & validation, and ICD definition ### Preferred qualifications

Nice to have

  • Experience with ARP-4761/4754, ISO26262, MIL-STD-882B, or similar system safety processes.
  • Experience developing FHAs, Fault Trees, Reliability Predictions, FMEAs, SSAs, CCAs.
  • Experience performing safety analyses in one or more of the following: Image based perception systems, aerospace systems, vehicle management, flight controls, cloud-based software intensive systems, aircraft traffic management.
