Responsibilities
- ## Role Overview
- This role is about creating credible, test-correlated dynamic models that reduce aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic risk for SkyDrive’s aircraft. You will sit between the Modelling & Simulation function and the Aeroelastics team: supporting the aeroelastics team’s Ground Vibration Test (GVT) initiative, and pushing the integration of structural dynamics and propeller dynamics into modelling workflows that enable aeroservoelastic assessments. Your outputs will directly support design decisions, risk closure, and readiness for envelope expansion by improving traceability, repeatability, and cross-team alignment.
- eVTOL development depends on disciplined coupling between structure, propulsion, and control. GVT is a high-leverage activity: it is where structural dynamics become measurable and where model credibility is won or lost. This role is an opportunity to turn GVT outcomes into actionable engineering artefacts—correlated modes, clear assumptions, and models that can be used by both aeroelastics and M&S. You will work in a small team environment with strong ownership, where the expectation is not only to “run analyses”, but to build a dependable, repeatable capability for the programme.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in structural dynamics, aeroelasticity, aeroservoelasticity, or closely related modelling & simulation for complex dynamic systems.
- Hands-on experience supporting GVT / experimental modal analysis, including test support and post-processing.
- Demonstrated ability to correlate test results to analysis models and communicate what changed.
- NASTRAN: building/running modal/dynamic models and interpreting results for correlation and design trades.
- Python: data processing pipelines, automation, plotting/report generation for repeatable engineering outputs.
- Practical experience with propeller/rotor dynamics and an ability to translate that into reduced-order representations suitable for coupling studies.
- Experience working with engineering stakeholders across teams including preparing artefacts and communicating results clearly.
Nice to have
- Experience with model reduction / modal reduction and building reduced-order models for integrated studies.
- Exposure to additional test environments beyond GVT and associated signal quality/coherence considerations.
- Experience reviewing supplier analyses and translating external outputs into internal models, assumptions, and decision-ready conclusions.
- Experience working in an aircraft development environment where traceability, configuration control, and disciplined documentation are required.
