As a Lightning Engineer, you will be involved in the development, design, and evaluation of lightning protection for eVTOL aircraft and their onboard equipment. You will perform zoning studies, identify potential lightning attachment points and current paths, and define protection strategies. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate lightning protection requirements into the overall aircraft design, and plan and execute lightning tests at component and aircraft levels to support compliance and certification activities.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement lightning protection design for eVTOL aircraft and onboard equipment.
Perform zoning studies, identify potential lightning attachment points and current paths, and define appropriate protection strategies
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure lightning protection requirements are effectively integrated into overall aircraft design, such as : structures design team, rotor team, motors/ESCs team, power team, avionic team, EWIS team , and certification team
Plan and execute lightning tests at both component and aircraft levels, define countermeasures as needed, and support compliance and certification activities.

Requirements

Practical experience in lightning protection design for aircraft, including planning, testing, implementation, and certification.
Strong knowledge of lightning and EMC standards (e.g., SAE ARP 5412/5414, RTCA DO-160 Sections 20–23, SAE ARP 5583A).
Ability to design, validate, and integrate lightning protection measures in compliance with aviation standards

Nice to have

Have practical experience improving aircraft-level noise performance and build quality in safety-critical aviation products, including collaboration with suppliers.
Possess experience in upstream EMC design and noise mitigation, covering not only individual boards but also complex modules or entire systems. Experience with high-voltage electrical equipment noise mitigation is especially welcome.
Hold the iNARTE EMC Engineer certification.
