About the role
This is an exciting and unique role for our Aviation Team at MSS Security. The BVLOS Remote Drone Pilot will be responsible for operating drones beyond the line of visual sight to support Security, commercial, industrial, or research applications. The role requires adherence to strict CASA regulations, advanced piloting skills, and a commitment to safety. This role will be working out of the Port Melbourne Office.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Operate drones remotely for various purposes including aerial security patrols, photography, surveying, mapping, inspection, wildlife management monitoring, and data collection.
Adhere to regulations and local airspace laws, ensuring all drone flights are conducted safely and responsibly.
Security, Infrastructure inspections, environmental monitoring, agriculture, delivery logistics, emergency response
Collect, analyse, and upload footage, images, or survey data to cloud storage or company platforms. Ensure data is organised and accessible for analysis or client delivery.
Communicate with clients to understand their project needs and provide updates or reports as necessary.
Site visits where required for setup/ basic maintenance and trouble shooting.
Skills & experience
Thorough understanding of the Australian aviation regulations, particularly the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)
Certification in Remote Pilot Licence for commercial drone operations including IREX or BVLOS OCTA qualification
Solid understanding of flight control and compliance software, in particular Flytbase, Flighthub/2 and AVCRM
Commitment to safety
Experience in radios and telecommunication, including proficiency in video and telemetry systems
Electronics and mechanics background will be highly regarded
Willingness to travel regularly to sites and work in a team on a 4-on 4-off rotating roster
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
