This role is a full-time Design Quality Engineer position at DZYNE Technologies' Irvine site. The primary purpose is to ensure technical drawing compliance by performing rigorous quality reviews of mechanical and electrical drawings, and to drive systematic process optimization. The engineer acts as the final quality gate for Engineering Change Orders, leads root cause analysis on recurring drawing errors and manufacturing defects, and standardizes quality checklists and SOPs. The position supports AS9100 quality management compliance and participates in internal audits and Change Control Board meetings.
Responsibilities
- Enforce Drafting Standards: Critically review mechanical blueprints for adherence to ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and electrical schematics for compliance with IPC-A-610/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Verify Electrical Layouts: Inspect multi-layer PCBs, wiring harnesses, and avionics layouts for correct creepage, clearance, thermal relief, and wire gauge sizing
- Engineering Change Control: Act as the final quality gate for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), reviewing modified drawings for secondary risks
- Eliminate Process Bottlenecks: Analyze the handoff between design engineering and the manufacturing floor to streamline and accelerate the drawing release workflow.
- Solve Systemic Issues: Lead Root Cause Analysis when recurring drawing errors or manufacturing defects escape to the production line.
- Standardize Quality Checklists: Create and maintain robust drawing review checklists and Standard Operating Procedures to institutionalize tribal knowledge and prevent "repeat offender" mistakes
- Maintain Aerospace Standards: Ensure all design control and manufacturing processes comply with AS9100 Quality Management Systems
- Internal audit: Participate in internal audits to ensure the effective implementation of Quality Management System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) meetings: Give feedback and address Quality related concerns at the inception stage of an Engineering Change Request.
- Product Containment: Assist in the identification and containment of products affected by Engineering Change Notice dispositions.

- Engineering Knowledge: Understand mechanical and electrical systems.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in GD&T
- Compliance: Working knowledge of AS9001 or ISO 9001
- Strong Collaboration & Communication: Ability to interface effectively with many internal and external groups
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical) or a related technical field.
- Clearance Level Required: US Person Required.
