This role focuses on the design and definition of electrical installations for next-generation electric rotorcraft (eVTOL) platforms, including wiring architecture, harness routing, and network/system diagrams using 3DX CAD environments. You will ensure electrical systems are correctly integrated within the aircraft structure, meeting performance, safety, and certification requirements. This is a critical role within the aircraft integration lifecycle, supporting both digital design and physical implementation of complex electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain EWIS designs, including wiring harnesses, routing, and installation layouts using 3DX CAD tools
- Produce electrical installation definitions, ensuring compatibility with airframe structure and system requirements
- Create and manage network diagrams and electrical architecture schematics, ensuring clarity and traceability
- Define wiring routes, cable protection, and installation practices, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards
- Integrate electrical systems with mechanical structures and other aircraft systems, ensuring proper fit, function, and maintainability
- Collaborate with systems, design, and stress engineering teams to resolve installation constraints and interfaces
- Ensure compliance with EWIS regulatory requirements and best practices (e.g. safety, separation, redundancy, EMC considerations)
- Support design reviews, ensuring installation solutions are robust and certifiable
- Generate and maintain technical documentation, including installation drawings, BOMs, and configuration data
- Support manufacturing and installation activities, resolving design queries and non-conformances
- Contribute to verification and validation activities, ensuring installations meet functional and safety requirements
- Identify and mitigate installation and integration risks across the aircraft
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body.
- Applications are invited from candidates who may hold HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the system domain.
- Proficiency in 3DX CAD (or equivalent) for routing, installation, and design definition
- Knowledge of wiring harness design, routing constraints, and installation practices
- Understanding of integration between electrical systems and airframe structures
- Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and design documentation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
- Good communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong experience in EWIS design and electrical installation engineering
- Experience producing network diagrams, wiring schematics, and electrical architecture documentation
- Experience in aerospace or safety-critical environments
- Experience working with electric propulsion systems, batteries, or high-voltage systems
- Experience supporting aircraft integration and assembly activities
Nice to have
- Familiarity with EASA CS-23/CS-27/CS-29 certification requirements
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI considerations and grounding/bonding practices
- Familiarity with PLM systems and configuration control processes
- Exposure to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) or eVTOL platforms
