As a Senior Surveyor, you will lead impactful surveying and geospatial projects for INDOT, aviation clients, municipalities, and construction initiatives across Indiana. You will oversee field survey operations, plan and coordinate projects, perform complex computations, and manage data from UAS, LiDAR, and mobile mapping. You will also mentor junior staff, implement QA/QC procedures, and support business development to expand Fishbeck's presence in the state.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee field survey and geospatial data collection operations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
- Plan and coordinate projects, including crew scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics.
- Interpret legal descriptions, plats, and engineering plans to support boundary, right-of-way, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform and oversee complex survey computations and data processing for boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
- Integrate and manage data from UAS, terrestrial LiDAR, and mobile mapping platforms.
- Review and validate deliverables to ensure compliance with INDOT, FAA, and municipal standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to define project scope, workflows, and strategies.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
- Implement QA/QC procedures, standards, and best practices for a growing geospatial team.
- Support project budgeting, estimating, and proposal development.
- Strengthen relationships with new and existing clients to help grow Fishbeck’s Indiana presence.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Surveyor in Indiana, or ability to obtain licensure.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in surveying and/or geospatial services.
- Strong background in boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
- Experience with robotic total stations, RTK GPS, and data collectors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation OpenRoads Designer.
- Proven ability to lead crews, manage workflows, and deliver projects.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness necessary to perform surveying responsibilities.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with LiDAR, UAS, or mobile mapping technologies preferred.
