This is a hybrid position. The first three months are full-time in office.
The Lead Engineer is responsible for the development, expansion, planning, scheduling, and safe operation of the drone team and its equipment to meet the set mission and objectives of the organization. In addition, this position coordinates inspection of assets under urgent conditions. Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are inspected and reported on to high quality standards that provide customers with safe, and reliable electric service. This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long-term plan for the drone organization. Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing, and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff as well as creating innovation across the group.
Essential Functions:
Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers and pilots; approves time and conducts performance reviews. Assigns, prioritizes, and directs work performed by at least 1 FTE Engineer and 8 FTE Drone Pilots.
Update, as needed to training program and mentoring of new pilots and engineers.
Development and continual update of procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of Drone Fleet
Aid in expanding the use of drones across the company
Aid in the regulation of drone use across the company through development of processes, procedures, and training for all employees
Strategizes, Develops, and incorporates company approved software to help create efficiencies across the group
Lead the streamlining of daily processes through use of technology to create efficiencies for Transmission Technical Engineering
Responsible for creating and or adhering to schedules, as necessary, some being urgent.
Collaborates with other departments within Eversource to aid with Drone support and Machine Learning/AI
Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Education:
Requires a BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology
Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry or an aeronautical field.
Supervisory and Leadership experience preferred.
Transmission Line Engineering experience preferred.
Drone Engineering experience preferred.
Advanced Excel, Machine Learning/AI experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
Must have a valid driver’s license
FAA Part 107 Certification is required (will need to be obtained upon candidate hire)
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. Job can require traveling to operating districts and companies within and outside the state.
Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
Occasional field visits to areas with uneven terrain are required
