Mach Energetics is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the conceptual and preliminary structural development of high-performance aerospace and defense systems. The role involves developing structural layouts, performing stress analysis, building FEM models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure structural integrity and performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural layouts and aeromechanical architectures for advanced aerospace and defense platforms.
- Perform structural and mechanical analysis including load path development, stress analysis, vibration assessments, and structural sizing.
- Build and analyze FEM models including mesh generation, boundary conditions, load cases, and design trade studies.
- Support integration of aerodynamic, propulsion, and structural systems to ensure performance and structural integrity.
- Evaluate metallic and composite structures under static, dynamic, and thermal loading environments.
- Perform trade studies focused on stiffness, strength, mass optimization, manufacturability, and system integration.
- Collaborate closely with propulsion, flight sciences, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams throughout vehicle development.
- Participate in technical design reviews and communicate structural risks, margins, and performance assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in aerospace structural design and stress analysis.
- Experience with FEM modeling and structural analysis tools for aerospace applications.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics, stress analysis, load paths, and material behavior.
- Experience supporting aerospace conceptual or preliminary design efforts.
Nice to have
- Experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN, or similar structural analysis software.
- Experience with missile, UAS, propulsion, or high-speed aerospace systems.
- Familiarity with metallic and composite aerospace structures.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup or rapid hardware development environments.
