Join us at a pivotal moment as we transition from R&D to scaling production. We’re hiring a high-impact Mechanical Systems Engineer to solve complex, cross-disciplinary hardware challenges across existing and future Wingtra drones, payloads and accessories. This role is for someone who thrives in ambiguity, learns fast, and can take ownership of tough engineering problems - from early feasibility through prototyping and production - working closely with electrical, firmware, test and operations teams.
Responsibilities
Contribute across projects developing future Wingtra drones, payloads, and accessories
Own the full product development cycle—from feasibility and prototyping to qualification and production ramp-up
Translate high-level requirements into technical specifications and own verification (test plans, physical test setups, and simulation where appropriate)
Execute core development tasks including 3D CAD design, drawings/BOMs, documentation, and environmental/functional qualification testing
Design, build, test, and iterate prototypes and 0-series to ensure robust integration and performance
Collaborate with suppliers to deliver manufacturable, scalable designs and drive DfM/DfA and quality improvements
Participate in design reviews, providing technical input and ensuring alignment with engineering best practices and system-level requirements
Improve reliability and quality through root-cause analysis of production and field issues and implement effective fixes
Manage handover of newly developed products to Operations, ensuring production readiness, manufacturability, and testability
Requirements
M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics or a closely related field
5-7 years of industry experience delivering real-world hardware products (robotics, aerospace, medical devices, or similar)
Proven ownership of complex engineering problems end-to-end—designing, building/experimenting, validating, and iterating (not only CAD)
Practical, evidence-driven engineering mindset
Strong foundation in mechanical design, lightweight structures, materials and manufacturing processes
Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and production-grade drawings/BOMs; comfortable with tolerances, interfaces, and configuration control
Structured, proactive communicator who collaborates well across disciplines and can drive decisions forward
Curiosity, resilience and a desire to grow both technically and professionally
Collaborative, humble, and eager to learn
Fluent in English
Plus
Experience with drones or other autonomous systems, including field testing
Experience applying DfM/DfA with suppliers/manufacturing partners and supporting production ramp-ups
FEA or CFD familiarity
Basic scripting (e.g., Python) for test automation or analysis
Tricky, high-stakes engineering problems energize you - you lean in when the path isn’t obvious. You’ll try bold and creative ideas, de-risk them with focused experiments, and iterate quickly toward a clean, robust solution. If you enjoy building, testing and refining hardware that has to perform in the real world (and in the air), we’d love to work with you. We’re a young, ambitious team that values a positive, supportive environment - working hard, learning fast, and having fun along the way.If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply - many skills can be learned on the job, and we value potential, pragmatism, and ownership.
