This role is responsible for delivering accurate survey support for mine civil engineering projects at the Macraes Open Pit, ensuring construction works are completed in accordance with design specifications, compliance requirements, and operational standards. The surveyor will undertake set-out and as-built surveys, deformation monitoring, and maintain survey datasets and databases. They will also assist with wider open pit survey team duties when required.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake as directed set out and as-built surveys on mine civil engineering projects (e.g., embankment construction; road realignments).
  • Undertake design set-out and as-built surveys as required to ensure design compliance and monitor construction performance, including UAV and bathymetric surveys of tailings storage facilities.
  • Undertake deformation monitoring surveys as directed to meet compliance and geotechnical schedules
  • Maintain survey datasets in a systematic and logical manner.
  • Input monitoring data and maintain an accurate database of all data such that it meets internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Utilise survey and 3D modelling computer software to process and disseminate survey data as required in the appropriate format (hardcopy and digital).
  • Assist when required & absence cover for wider open pit survey team.
  • Carry out all other duties that may reasonably be required.

Requirements

  • Full, clean, current Class 1 drivers’ licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is essential.
  • Unrestricted work rights / NZ working visa is preferred.
  • 3 years+ surveying experience preferred.
  • Survey experience in open pit mining and / or large-scale civil engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of civil construction methods well regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely within a hazardous environment through the utilisation of safety management tools and systems.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Surveying preferred.
