Peraton Labs is seeking an RF Engineer to support testing, characterization, and basic analysis of radio-frequency systems used in communications, UAS control, and threat device assessment. The candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers and technicians, assisting with hands-on RF measurements, documentation, and lab activities. Responsibilities include testing and troubleshooting RF components, using lab equipment like Vector Network Analyzers and Spectrum Analyzers, supporting characterization of cellular and wireless systems, and helping with reverse engineering and EMI test activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting RF power amplifiers, receiver circuits, and other RF components
- Use RF lab equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Arbitrary Signal Generators, and Software‑Defined Radios to collect measurements and verify system performance
- Support characterization of cellular and wireless communication systems related to jamming and interference testing
- Help develop basic schematics and block diagrams during reverse engineering activities of RF based devices
- Perform introductory RF signal analysis on UAS control systems and help prepare technical summaries or reports
- Support senior staff in evaluating high power RF transmitter and jamming systems, including basic amplifier stage measurements
- Assist with receiver and antenna test activities, including documenting performance results and configuration changes
- Participate in maintaining MASINT chamber setups and help execute EMI test activities in accordance with Mil‑Std‑461F under supervision
- Prepare clear documentation, diagrams, and organized test data for engineering review
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2 years of experience with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
- Basic understanding of RF concepts such as gain, impedance, bandwidth, and signal behavior
- Hands on lab experience with common RF test equipment, either through coursework, internships, or personal projects
- Ability to read and learn to develop simple schematics and block diagrams
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn advanced RF techniques and support more experienced team members
- Active TS/SCI
Nice to have
- Exposure to UAS systems, SDRs, RF signal analysis, or communications systems (academic or project‑based experience accepted)
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC concepts or military standards
- Interest in reverse engineering or RF device teardown work
