As a Systems Safety Engineer, you will play a key role in our mission aircraft team, ensuring the aircraft’s system architecture is driven by the relevant requirements and achieves the required levels of availability and safety for our customers. As part of Quantum Systems’ mission aircraft division, you’ll contribute to one of the most exciting German aviation projects of the years to come. Working closely with the team around our aircraft activities, your role can span across multiple disciplines — from hands‑on technical work to system‑level responsibility. Our focus is on getting large airborne platforms into the air and ready for real operational use.

Responsibilities

  • Own the safety process incl. managing safety activities throughout aircraft and system development lifecycle
  • Apply aviation development and safety guidance such as SAE ARP4761A and ARP 4754B
  • Perform aircraft and system functional hazard assessments (AFHA, SFHA)
  • Conduct safety assessment (e.g., PASA, PSSA, ASA, and SSA) during the development
  • Ensure continuous safety process integration with development team
  • Develop and review fault tree analyses, FMEAs, and other analyses
  • Closely work with suppliers of safety-relevant equipment
  • Support process planning, execution, and certification liaison

Requirements

  • You have a Master’s degree in the field of aerospace engineering (or similar course of studies).
  • You already have at least 5 years of professional experience with redundant aerospace system architectures with hands-on experience in safety assessment.
  • You have a solid understanding of avionics, digital communication, and electrical systems.
  • You have actively conducted functional hazard assessments and fault tree analyses.
  • You have hands-on experience with safety assessment and requirements management tools.
  • You are familiar with the regulatory frameworks in aviation (ARP 4754A, ARP4761, CS-23, DO-178C, etc.).
  • Experience in military systems design certification is helpful (e.g., STANAG 4671).
  • Your open, communicative, very friendly and competent manner makes it easy for you to be seen as an internal expert.
  • You are highly self-motivated and drive your area of responsibility forward independently.
  • Communication in English is a matter of course for you.
