We are looking for a hands-on UAV Pilot & Engineer to join our team in Finland. You will prepare and fly UAVs during client demonstrations, acceptance tests, and integration activities, working closely with the local Integration Manager and Ukraine-based engineering teams. This role goes beyond piloting: we expect you to analyze what happens in flight, trace issues to their root cause, and turn field observations into clear, actionable feedback for engineering.
Responsibilities
- Operate UAVs (fixed-wing and multirotor) during test flights, client demonstrations, and acceptance activities
- Prepare systems for flight: assembly, configuration, calibration, and pre-flight inspections
- Ensure UAV and equipment readiness for demos and field activities: configuration control, spares, rapid repairs
- Execute customer-facing flights with strict adherence to safety standards and mission protocols
- Diagnose mechanical, electronic, and software issues in lab and field conditions — identify the root cause, not just the symptom
- Analyze flight logs (ground control and onboard systems) to detect anomalies, performance issues, and system limitations; build clear cause-and-effect explanations of failures
- Evaluate test and demo outcomes, systematize recurring issues, and propose improvements to engineering
- Tune and configure flight controllers (ArduPilot, iNav, Betaflight); integrate components such as cameras, antennas, telemetry modules, and payloads
- Work with communication protocols (MAVLink, CRSF, SBUS, CAN, UART) at a practical level
- Maintain documentation: test reports, checklists, issue logs, lessons learned
- Communicate with engineers and technical teams in Ukraine to ensure configuration consistency and technical alignment
Requirements
- Experience operating UAVs (fixed-wing or multirotor) confidently in real conditions
- Full drone system setup experience — from hardware assembly to flight readiness
- Hands-on configuration experience with at least one platform: ArduPilot, iNav, or Betaflight
- Solid technical understanding of UAV systems: electronics, connectors, soldering, antennas, basic aerodynamics
- Strong analytical skills: flight log analysis, structured troubleshooting, ability to reason from symptom to root cause and clearly explain the chain of events
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and repairs in field conditions
- Strong safety mindset and disciplined operational behavior — comfortable flying in front of clients
- Ability to organize own tasks independently in dynamic environments
- Willingness to travel internationally, including business trips to Ukraine
- Finnish — Native or Advanced. English — B2 or higher
Nice to have
- Experience with both fixed-wing and multirotor platforms
- Technical education in aviation, radio electronics, robotics, or related fields
- Understanding of radio communication principles: signal propagation, interference, antenna selection
- Experience writing short technical reports or structured issue descriptions
- Experience in drone racing, SAR operations, or other high-responsibility flight environments
- Experience supporting demos or working directly with clients
