The Surveyor will work closely with Operations and Projects teams to fulfill all field surveying needs and manage geospatial data at the Eskay Creek mine site. This role ensures accurate in-field survey guidance while maintaining compliance with engineered drawings and principles. Responsibilities include survey coordination, field surveying, data management, and support for other departments such as Geology and Drill and Blast. This is a seasonal, site-based camp position with a rotational schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all survey activities.
  • Interpret 3D drawings for precise field control.
  • Communicate engineering drawing details to Operations and Project teams.
  • Stake out control limits to guide Projects and Operations.
  • Conduct topographical surveys.
  • Perform as-built surveys of active mining and development areas.
  • Ensure the accuracy of as-built data and maintain up-to-date as-built maps.
  • Conduct regular audits of as-built data for quality assurance.
  • Assist Geology with material type identification (PAG/NAG, Ore/Waste) and in-field staking.
  • Support the Drill and Blast crew with drill hole staking and drill pattern preparation.
  • Survey underground utilities as needed and maintain an accurate infrastructure as-built map.
  • Conduct aerial drone surveys of the mine site.

Requirements

  • A Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics or equivalent experience.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • A Minimum of 3 years of related experience is required. Mining/Industrial experience is essential.
  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.), GIS programs (ArcGIS); experience with 3D mine modeling software is an asset (AutoCAD, Deswik).
  • Knowledge and experience working with RTK GPS equipment and surveying software.
  • Adaptable to change, ability to operate in less than perfect conditions and with less than perfect information at times.
  • Must have past demonstrated experience in helping build a strong safety culture, as well as awareness of, and adherence to, all required health and safety best practices Must be able to work a rotational schedule in a remote mining camp.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
