As an Engineering Manager II, you will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to achieve project milestones, develop and maintain project schedules, and monitor project costs. You will drive technical solutions to complex engineering challenges, ensure compliance with standards, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. You will also mentor engineering staff and present project updates to senior management. This role is part of the SNC-led SAOC team, contributing to the modernization of the next-generation airborne command post for the U.S. Air Force.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to achieve project milestones.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of engineering products.
  • Monitor and control project costs to stay within budget.
  • Drive the development and implementation of technical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Present project updates and technical data to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline
  • Typically, 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, which includes 4+ years of management experience.
  • Thorough Understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

Nice to have

  • Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success
  • Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
  • Ability to motivate/work with others
  • Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project
