This role is for a Software Engineer III within the ISR, Aviation, and Security business area, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of software systems for advanced aerospace applications. The engineer will work on an Internal Research and Development program focused on air defense technologies, integrating multiple systems and software products. Responsibilities include leading design and development, debugging, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets performance and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of complex software components.
  • Debug and troubleshoot advanced software issues.
  • Write and maintain detailed code documentation.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
  • Support the integration of software with hardware systems.
  • Define software requirements and specifications in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software performance and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in experience in software development.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C# or Java.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficient with communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Linux (RHEL) and windows services
  • Knowledge of tactical/moving map software integration
  • Knowledge with hardware integration and protocol development
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.
  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral.
  • Experienced with data structures.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range: $108,496.89 - $149,183.22. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
