As a Senior Full-Stack Developer at TYTAN, you will design and develop scalable military ground control station applications that coordinate various effectors and integrate with external systems in real-time mission-critical environments. You will architect full-stack applications, build real-time communication layers between C2 systems and autonomous platforms, design low-latency data pipelines for target tracking and sensor fusion, and develop tactical interfaces for operators. The role involves end-to-end ownership, including field testing at test sites across Germany and occasionally abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Architect full-stack applications for ground control stations, balancing performance, reliability, and operator usability.
  • Build real-time communication layers between C2 systems, autonomous platforms, and sensor networks.
  • Design low-latency data pipelines for target tracking, sensor fusion, and tactical decision support.
  • Ensure system observability through comprehensive logging, distributed tracing, and real-time metrics.
  • Develop tactical interfaces (desktop and web) that give operators clear situational awareness.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or similar technical field.
  • 5+ years full stack development with exposure to real-time, mission-critical applications.
  • Experience in building modern frontend applications using React / Angular (JavaScript / TypeScript), and able to build dense, data-heavy interfaces that stay responsive under load.
  • Experience in backend development using Node.js or Python, with hands-on experience designing REST APIs and WebSocket-based real-time communication.
  • Comfortable working with relational, NoSQL, in-memory, and time-series databases (e.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, InfluxDB).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: solid grasp of TCP/IP and UDP fundamentals (sockets, multicast, packet loss, latency), and experience with serialization and messaging formats such as Protocol Buffers, MQTT, etc. Familiarity with MAVLink or comparable telemetry protocols is a plus.
  • Experience working with Linux-based environments, as well as tools such as Docker, Nginx, and CI/CD pipelines to build, deploy, and maintain production systems.
  • Domain knowledge in real-time systems, including state machines, coordinate frames, sensor data fusion, Kalman filtering.
  • You want end-to-end ownership, including in the field. Shipping the feature is only half the job. You're motivated to take it to the flight line, see it run on real hardware in real conditions, debug it there, and bring the lessons back into the code. This involves regular travel to test sites across Germany and occasionally abroad - and you see that as one of the exciting parts of the role!
