This role involves conducting technical studies and analyses related to granting and approving airworthiness certificates for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft and systems, ensuring the safety of their design, structure, and maintenance. The incumbent will evaluate engineering certification standards, review design and manufacturing documentation, and verify compliance with regulatory requirements. They will also support VTOL ground and flight testing, verify conformity of operational systems, and coordinate with OEMs and fleet operators. The position contributes to the safe integration of AAM into the national aviation system, working under the General Management of Advanced Air Mobility within the Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability sector.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical studies and analyses related to granting and approving airworthiness certificates for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft and systems, ensuring the safety of their design, structure, and maintenance. Duties include evaluating engineering certification standards, reviewing design and manufacturing documentation, and verifying compliance with regulatory requirements, in addition to supporting VTOL ground and flight testing and verifying the conformity of operational systems.
  • Conduct technical analyses and studies ensuring the safe integration of AAM technologies into the aviation ecosystem.
  • Build technical capabilities in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) within GACA.
  • Update existing regulations to incorporate AAM relevant systems & technologies.
  • Develop regulations and procedures, prepare technical recommendations, and obtain the required approvals.
  • Develop new regulations to enable airworthiness certification issuance.
  • Define processes to conduct surveillance/oversight of testing and compliance.
  • Conduct technical studies related to issuing and accepting airworthiness certificates for AAM aircraft and systems.
  • Review and analyze engineering designs, safety data, and manufacturers’ risk-management solutions.
  • Coordinate with Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and fleet operators to verify compliance with certification standards.
  • Support and enable tests and flight trials for AAM systems.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by direct management related to the nature and scope of the job.
  • Prepare reports on time and with the required quality.
  • Commit to cybersecurity-related tasks and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the field.
  • Proficiency in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ICAO standards and recommended practices related to AAM or emerging aviation technologies.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable
