What you can expect
As a UAS Test Pilot, you are the first person who truly puts our systems to the test —
literally.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct experimental flight test campaigns to demonstrate that our UAS operate safely and reliably across their intended operational envelope.
- Systematically expand the flight envelope of our systems, empirically validating calculated limitations and performance specifications through controlled, step-by-step flight testing.
- Make go/no-go decisions during flight, exercising sound judgement and taking personal responsibility for safety without compromise.
- Perform all required pre-flight and post-flight procedures, document findings, and prepare test reports.
- Contribute to the development of Flight Manuals from the operator’s perspective, including procedures, limitations, and performance data.
- Translate flight characteristics and pilot observations into structured engineering feedback for mechanical systems, avionics, flight controls, and mechatronics.
- Identify, document, and report anomalies openly and without delay through our Just Culture reporting system. Honest feedback about what happens in flight is essential to maintaining and improving safety.
Your profile
- Education: Technical education (HTL or equivalent) in aviation technology,
mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field. A university degree
in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a comparable discipline
is an advantage, but not required. - Experience: Several years of rotary-wing RC/UAS flight experience, including
models with a rotor diameter of up to approximately 3 m. Experience in
developing or contributing to Flight Manuals is an advantage. - Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the European regulatory framework
for unmanned aircraft systems, as well as applicable national regulations, is an
advantage. - Technical Skills: Strong ability to correlate subjective flight observations and
aircraft behaviour with measured and recorded flight-test data. A structured
and analytical approach to flight testing is essential. - Languages: Fluent German and English.
We offer
- One of the most responsible flight roles in the European UAV industry - your in-flight decisions protect people and equipment
- Direct influence on the certification readiness of our entire product family A team that takes Just Culture seriously - honest error reporting is protected, not punished Flexible work schedules, access to state-of-the-art testing infrastructure
- Collaboration is our top priority. We're not looking for cogs in the machine, but rather individuals who enrich our team and whom we value as people.
- We don't believe in silos. We celebrate successes together, learn from mistakes together, and support each other – always as equals.
- Maximum flexibility regarding working time models and hours, available either as a permanent position or on a freelance basis.
- Short decision-making processes and open doors are standard practice here. Your ideas won't get lost in bureaucracy; they'll be heard, discussed, and implemented.
- The tech world never stands still, and neither will you. We support your personal and professional development (certifications, conferences, courses) with a dedicated budget and paid time off.
Collective agreement
For this position we offer a gross annual salary starting from € 55.356,00 on a full-time basis. Depending on your qualifications and experience, overpayment is a given for us.
