The Traveling Scanning Technician supports VIATechnik's Reality Capture Team by delivering high-quality, on-site visual documentation through 360° photography, Matterport and LiDAR scanning, still photography, and drone imagery. This role is both technical and creative, balancing field precision with visual storytelling to document built environments across the U.S. The technician will manage field operations, travel, and logistics, collaborate cross-functionally, and elevate reality capture standards through innovation and learning.
Responsibilities
- Execute accurate and efficient reality capture across the U.S.
- Deliver high-quality visual content that elevates client deliverables, ensuring consistent lighting, framing, and focus across multiple site types.
- Manage field operations, travel, and logistics smoothly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams.
- Elevate reality capture standards through innovation and learning.
Requirements
- Experience with Matterport and LiDAR scanning technologies.
- Experience in still photography and drone photography.
- FAA Part 107 certification for commercial drone operation, or ability to quickly attain certification.
- Exceptional technical proficiency with photography equipment, drones, and related software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage travel schedules and deliverables effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- A valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to travel extensively by car, for multiple weeks at a time.
Nice to have
- Experience working in the architecture, engineering, construction industry and building systems.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and photogrammetry tools.
- Experience with client-facing or customer service roles or the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Benefits
- The pay for this position is $60,000 – $70,000, and the role is eligible for bonuses. The actual salary offer may be different as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, location, and experience
- Health insurance with the choice of five plan options. We cover 70-95% of premiums for VIATechies and 65% of the premiums for dependents (depending on the plan chosen)
