Prime Air is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop electronic hardware and related Avionic systems and architecture for Prime Air Drones. In this role, you will work with the Seattle-based team to deploy new hardware and Avionics architecture systems, collaborating with internal and external vendors to support hardware development, manufacturing, and test. You will be responsible for architecture and hardware design of avionic compute and distributed systems, performing electrical analyses, circuit simulation, and creating schematics and PCB layouts, as well as supporting engineering trades and interacting with suppliers on critical components.
Responsibilities
- -Architecture and Hardware Designs, develops, Avionic compute and distributed system hardware (air data probes, lidar, radar, gnss antennas)
- -Design and test other analog/digital devices components such as navigation hardware, satellite communication, air data probes, DC-DC converts and protection circuitry.
- -Perform electrical analyses, circuit simulation, components sizing and selection, create electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
- -Support engineering trades, estimates and interact with suppliers/partners on critical components and develop hardware from concept to mass production.
- -Support developing hardware and component level requirements/specifications.
- -Increase the engineering rigor behind designs, verification, and documentation.
- -Perform prototype hardware and systems in labs.
- -Perform formal verification testing including DO-160 and DO-254
Requirements
- Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
- Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- 6+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
- 6+ years of electrical engineering work experience in Consumer Electronics, Power Electronics, Robotics, Aerospace, Automotive, and/or Communications fields or combination thereof. ### Preferred qualifications
Nice to have
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent
- 5+ years of developing electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical (2010 or newer) experience
- 5+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience
- Experience in new hardware product development
