The company is seeking a systems engineer to help design and manage the next generation of flight vehicles within its unmanned aerial systems portfolio. The role leads end-to-end solution development, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements and system architecture, and designing, developing and maintaining system components that meet functional and performance requirements in complex environments. The engineer conducts thorough testing and debugging to ensure reliability, scalability and resilience, particularly in distributed systems contexts, and works closely with hardware engineers and product managers to integrate software and hardware seamlessly. The position also involves defining and documenting software engineering processes and practices to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead development for an end to end solution by collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements and system architecture.
- Design, develop, and maintain system components that meet functional and performance requirements in complex system environments
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the reliability, scalability, and resilience of software applications, especially within a distributed systems context
- Work closely with hardware engineers and product managers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components
- Collaborate with the team to define and document software engineering processes and practices, ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- 8+ years of post-grad industry experience, including but not limited to electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or systems engineering
- A passion for systems design development, integration, and test
- Hands-on prototyping, troubleshooting, and build experience
- Experience Developing automated test scrips and frameworks using a common language (eg. Python, MATLAB, etc)
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
- Must hold a U.S. Secret security clearance, or higher
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed for test planning and execution
Nice to have
- Hands on experience with complex robotic systems
- Familiarity with IP-Based networks
- Experience with mission systems, including communications systems and components
- Familiarity with aviation airworthiness considerations
