Anduril is seeking an experienced technical writer to partner with the Test & Evaluation group to generate and maintain developmental test and operation-focused technical documentation. The role involves working closely with test engineers, pilots, and subject matter experts to understand product usage, identify gaps in understanding, and use documentation to close those gaps. The Technical Writer will set the tone and quality bar for written artifacts and help grow the technical documentation function at Anduril. The role focuses on creating checklists, procedures, manuals, user guides, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and API documentation across all phases of product development.
Responsibilities
- Build partnerships across the business to understand our users and our products, with specific focus on hardware and its supporting software components used by the Test & Evaluation group and operators.
- Generate, review, and edit documentation, that is Test & Evaluation-focused and of the highest quality
- Research highly technical subject matter, organizes information from multiples sources, and express technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of reader
- Contribute to Anduril’s technical writing toolkit, working on everything from style guides to the documentation lifecycle and review process
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in English, communications, linguistics, or related field. May substitute equivalent technical experience in lieu of education.
- 5+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation
- Previous experience creating technical documentation in the Aerospace industry and/or DOD
- Familiarization of military writing standards and verbiage (412TW-TIH-20-01)
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation
- Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, XML, and Visio
- etc.
- Must have strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on technical subjects
- The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, managing competing demands and occasional tight deadlines
- Basic development proficiency - we value the ability to apply software development best practices to documentation systems
- A passion for excellent documentation and user experiences
- Must possess and be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance, Top Secret preferred.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university
- 7+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation
- Previous experience creating technical documentation for developmental aircraft (Manned or UAS), weapons, or missile systems
- Familiarization with team workspace software (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, Teamcenter)
- Experience drafting S1000D compliant technical publications (XML, Arbortext, Rapidauthor)
- Experience with and understanding of the DoD logistics process
