JOB SUMMARY:
This is a hands-on technical production position supporting traditional surveying, UAS mapping, LiDAR, photogrammetry, mobile mapping, and terrestrial laser scanning projects.
INTER-RELATIONSHIPS:
Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation, and various external customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Process, review, classify, and extract features from LiDAR and point cloud datasets
- Perform 3D feature extraction from aerial LiDAR, photogrammetry, mobile LiDAR, and terrestrial laser scanning data
- Create detailed topographic and planimetric mapping.
- Extract features including roads, pavement, curbs, sidewalks, ditches, drainage features, buildings, fences, utilities, structures, and other visible improvements.
- Develop major and minor breaklines needed to accurately represent terrain and surface features.
- Generate point grids, terrain models, surfaces, and contours.
- Process UAS LiDAR and photogrammetry datasets.
- Work with mobile mapping and terrestrial/static scanning datasets.
- Register, georeference, combine, and evaluate point-cloud data from multiple sources.
- Perform QA/QC of LiDAR, mapping, surfaces, contours, and extracted features.
- Compare mapping data against survey control and independently collected check data.
- Identify data gaps, shadows, noise, registration issues, trajectory problems, poor geometry, and other conditions that may affect mapping accuracy.
- Prepare geospatial deliverables for Survey Project Managers, CAD technicians, engineers, and clients.
- Assist with large corridor, utility, industrial, and infrastructure mapping projects.
- Maintain organized project files and follow established production and QA/QC procedures.
- Communicate project status, data-quality concerns, and technical issues with Project Managers and other team members.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience in surveying, LiDAR, photogrammetry, mapping, GIS, CAD, or a related geospatial field.
- Experience working with point clouds or other large geospatial datasets.
- Experience with topographic or planimetric feature extraction.
- Understanding of survey control and basic surveying principles.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, datums, projections, and elevations.
- Familiarity with breaklines, terrain models, surfaces, and contours.
- Ability to interpret aerial imagery, LiDAR, survey data, and engineering/construction drawings.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer and technical skills.
- Ability to recognize questionable or incorrect data instead of simply accepting automated results.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and develop solutions.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with Project Managers and production teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE
Topographic OM, Inc. in office Standard business hours is Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.
The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
TRAVEL
Travel to worksites may be required.
