As a Flight Software Engineer Co-op at MORSE Corp, you will develop software for autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), participating in the full engineering design cycle from concept to deployment. You will work across the software stack, from bare-metal firmware to Linux-hosted robots and cloud-deployed micro-services, focusing on the interaction between users, software, and hardware to ensure mission success. You will also have opportunities to participate in flight testing and see the vehicles you work on fly.
Responsibilities
- Design and build embedded and flight software for unmanned aerial vehicles
- Develop embedded software for Linux or RTOS applications
- Develop device drivers, protocols, and APIs vehicle systems
- Integrate new features and sensors into flight controller software
- Integrate guidance and control algorithms with the flight software stack
- Create Software-In-The-Loop (SWIL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) test fixtures and automation
- Participate in flight tests and analyze flight test results
Requirements
- Working towards BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- US Citizenship and ability to get a US Security Clearance
- Experience with C++ is required, C, Python, and Rust experience are a plus
- Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
- Knowledge of Embedded Linux operating systems
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to have fun when working
Nice to have
- Experience with ARM Microcontrollers is nice to have
