Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Autonomous Systems Engineer to support a government contracting program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in autonomous systems design, development, and integration within defense and national security contexts. This role drives technical rigor across the full systems engineering lifecycle, conducting trade studies, analyses of alternatives, and system performance assessments for autonomous platforms and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and integrate autonomous system architectures including unmanned aerial, ground platforms.
- Conduct analyses of alternatives (AoA) and trade-off analyses to inform autonomous system design decisions and requirements development.
- Develop autonomy software stacks encompassing perception, planning, decision-making, and control algorithms.
- Perform modeling and simulation of autonomous system behaviors across operational scenarios.
- Assess autonomous system performance, reliability, and safety through rigorous test and evaluation frameworks.
- Develop and maintain the Systems Engineering process framework and master schedule aligned with program milestones and government customer expectations.
- Perform gap analyses on current autonomous capabilities, tools, and methodologies; propose actionable solutions.
- Facilitate cross-program coordination between engineering teams, program offices, and government sponsors.
- Communicate technical findings and risk assessments to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 9 years of progressive systems engineering experience focused on autonomous systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in autonomous system design, integration, and testing within DoD or government contracting environments.
- Hands-on experience with autonomy frameworks, robotic operating systems, or equivalent platforms.
- Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools for autonomous system behavior and performance analysis.
- Experience conducting AoA, gap analysis, and trade-off studies within a government acquisition framework.
- US citizen with an active Secret clearance, and ability to obtain TS/SCI.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) platforms such as Cameo, DOORS, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with AI/ML techniques applied to autonomous perception, navigation, and decision-making.
- Experience with sensor fusion, computer vision, or SLAM algorithms.
- Prior experience supporting OSD, DARPA, ARL, or service-level acquisition programs.
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent professional certification.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB for autonomy algorithm development and analysis.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
