As a UAS ROC Flight Operator, you will join the operations team and play a critical role in conducting autonomous and remote drone flights for customers inspecting and monitoring vital infrastructure. You will monitor and control drone missions in real-time from the Control Center, ensuring precision, safety, and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. The role involves shift work, including overnight shifts and on-call weekends, to ensure 24/7 coverage of drone operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct autonomous drone flights using advanced flight control software and hardware systems.
- Monitor and control drone missions in real-time from the Control Center.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks, including battery management, system diagnostics, and data logging.
- Develop and execute detailed flight plans based on mission objectives.
- Analyze environmental conditions and terrain to optimize flight routes.
- Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure mission success.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures during drone operations.
- Stay updated on current aviation regulations and industry best practices.
- Report and document any incidents, malfunctions, or anomalies during flights.
- Collect, process, and analyze data gathered during drone missions.
- Maintain accurate records of flight logs, maintenance, and operational data.
- Collaborate with data analysts to ensure the integrity and usefulness of collected data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with drone systems.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements in drone technology and operational procedures.
- Work in rotating shifts, including overnight shifts and weekends, to ensure 24/7 coverage of drone operations.
- Be on-call during scheduled nights and weekends to respond to urgent operational needs and emergencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
- Licensed FAA Part 107 drone operator
- At least 1-2 years of proven experience in drone operation, aviation, or remote-control systems is highly desirable
- Must be willing to work in rotating shifts and be on-call during weekends as needed
- Successfully work both independently and as part of a high-performance team.
- Familiarity with GIS software and data integration.
- Great customer-facing skills.
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, energetic, assertive.
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations
- Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while monitoring screens and systems for extended periods during the entire shift
