We are looking for an Infrastructure / Platform Engineer to build and maintain a repeatable platform for our edge devices, including CM4/CM5 companion computers, Ground Control Stations, CI/CD pipelines, release processes, fleet inventory, and remote device management. The role involves ensuring consistency across devices through automated, auditable, and reproducible setup, validation, upgrades, and deployments. This is not a cloud-only DevOps role; you will work directly with physical hardware, embedded Linux systems, networking, drivers, and developer tooling.
Responsibilities
- Build a one-command workflow for remotely setting up, updating, and validating companion computers, flight controllers, and Ground Control Stations.
- Create a unified versioning and release model for operating systems, firmware, drivers, containers, configuration, and application software.
- Develop a source of truth for fleet hardware, firmware, software, configuration, health, and connectivity.
- Improve secure remote access, update, rollback, recovery, and device replacement processes.
- Make CI/CD faster, more reliable, and reproducible by improving pipelines, artifacts, dependency pinning, releases, and Terraform-managed infrastructure.
Requirements
- Strong practical knowledge of Linux system administration on physical machines, including networking, services, permissions, storage, logs, and recovery.
- Experience automating provisioning, configuration, validation, deployment, and configuration drift detection.
- Experience with embedded, edge, bare-metal, ARM, or hardware-integrated systems.
- Experience with CI/CD, reproducible builds, dependency pinning, artifact management, versioning, and release engineering.
- A defensive and pragmatic engineering mindset, with strong security awareness, clear communication, and low tolerance for silent failures.
Nice to have
- Experience with Raspberry Pi Compute Modules, UAVs, robotics, companion computers, or Ground Control Stations.
- Experience with Hailo accelerators, cameras, hardware inference platforms, or vendor-specific drivers and SDKs.
- Experience managing fleets of physical or intermittently connected devices.
- Experience with over-the-air updates, image-based provisioning, rollback, secure boot, artifact signing, or SBOMs.
- Experience with Ansible, Nix, Yocto, Buildroot, Terraform, or self-hosted CI runners.
