The SSBN Force Protection Lead Analyst will help lead a long-term study assessing the vulnerabilities of submarines during surfaced operations and develop technical and operational countermeasures. The role involves working with Navy Staff, the Intelligence Community, and other stakeholders to develop study plans, manage data collection, modeling and simulation, and real-world testing. This position supports the Undersea Technology Portfolio within SPA's Sea, Land, & Air Division.

Responsibilities

  • SPA has an immediate need for a passionate and dedicated individual with a demonstrated record of success in assessing threats and vulnerabilities from unmanned systems and developing operational and technical countermeasures to address these vulnerabilities. The individual will help lead a longterm analytical effort under the Navy Staff Undersea Warfare Directorate (OPNAV N97) to analyze the security vulnerabilities of U.S. submarines during surfaced operations and develop and assess possible operational and technical countermeasures. In this role, the invididual is expected to work with other elements of the Navy Staff, the Intelligence Community, U.S. combatant commands, the Navy acquisition community, the U.S. Submarine Force, and other OPNAV N97 performers. The individual will be expected to help develop detailed study plans, and manage and direct data collection, modeling and simulation, and real-world testing and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; Master's degree is highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience that demonstrates proficiency in the operation or assessment of unmanned systems or counter-unmanned systems. Experience with counter-unmanned aerial systems and/or counter-unmanned surface vessels is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated strong skill sets in the design and conduct of technical studies and assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to summarize and communicate complex ideas and analytical findings to a variety of audiences.
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI and the ability to maintain it throughout employment

Nice to have

  • Experience analyzing metrics and conducting operational or technical risk assessments or root cause analysis, especially in the areas of physical security and counter-unmanned systems.
  • Experience in the conduct or assessment of Navy or Department of War force protection operations.
