The Field Service Technician III is a senior-level position that involves performing expert-level technical maintenance, repair, and support for complex aerospace and defense systems. The technician will independently manage field service projects, diagnose and resolve challenging technical issues, and lead and mentor junior and mid-level technicians. This role also includes developing training programs for customers and internal teams, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position requires extensive travel to customer sites, including international locations.
Responsibilities
- Perform expert-level maintenance and repairs on complex aerospace and defense systems.
- Independently manage field service projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Diagnose and resolve the most challenging technical issues.
- Lead and mentor junior and mid-level technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
- Develop and deliver advanced training programs for customers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all field activities and equipment status.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
- Oversee inventory management for spare parts and tools.
- Generate comprehensive technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Travel extensively to customer sites, potentially including international locations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Ability to understand and interpret basic technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
- Progressive experience using troubleshooting techniques.
- Thorough understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
- Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
Nice to have
- Associate's degree in a related field of study.
- Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
- Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
- Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pitot Static equipment gauges.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
- Experience in leading technical teams or projects.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
